Suspension:  The front is an "A section" with MacPherson Strut type top mountings.  The rear is a properly located adjustable multi link design  with combined Coil Spring / Damper units and is set to provide Passive 4 Wheel Steering on all models.  Both ends have Stabiliser bars to improve body roll and to improve traction.   

Brakes:  The front has ventilated discs with single piston fully floating callipers.  The rear has solid discs again with fully floating callipers.  The handbrake operates on the rear discs.  The Brake Master is a split / tandem vacuum boosted unit with a proportioning valve. The Braking effort required is low but powerful and proportional.  ABS braking is fitted to some hatches - particularly manual transmission models.

    1600 = 0-100 Km in less than 8.3 Seconds.

Engine:  The DOHC 1600 Isuzu engines are shared with Lotus and are used in the new 1990 onwards Lotus Elan Sports Convertible.  They are smooth, powerful, rugged, and require little service attention apart from oil and filter changes.
